Everything you need to know about hiring with Jina Rent a Car — from making a booking to understanding our First Nations ownership.

Booking & Reservations

You can submit a hire enquiry directly through our online booking form. Select your pickup location, dates and vehicle preference, and our team will confirm your reservation and provide full details.

For corporate clients with an existing account, your fleet bookings can also be arranged through your nominated booking process. If you don't have an account yet, apply for a corporate account here.

We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for our 4WD fleet and remote location pickups. Vehicle availability at smaller locations — such as Newman, Olympic Dam and Coober Pedy — can be limited, especially during peak periods aligned with mine site rosters and shutdown schedules.

For short-notice bookings, contact us directly on 1300 106 666 or email reservations@cedrent.com.au and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

All drivers must present a current, valid driver's licence at the time of pickup. International hirers must hold either an International Driving Permit or a licence from their home country accompanied by a certified English translation.

You will also need a valid credit card in the primary driver's name for the security deposit at pickup. Debit cards are generally not accepted for the deposit hold.

The minimum age to hire a vehicle with Jina Rent a Car is 21 years. Drivers under 25 may be subject to a young driver surcharge, which will be advised at the time of booking.

For 4WD and commercial vehicles, the minimum age is 25 years and a demonstrated history of driving similar vehicles may be required for remote hire.

Yes. Additional drivers can be added to your hire agreement at the time of pickup. All additional drivers must be present at pickup and provide a valid driver's licence. An additional driver fee may apply — please confirm at the time of booking.

Cancellation terms vary depending on the hire type and location. For standard reservations, cancellations made with more than 48 hours' notice will generally incur no charge. Cancellations within 48 hours of pickup may be subject to a cancellation fee.

For corporate account holders, cancellation terms are governed by your account agreement. Please contact our reservations team for details specific to your booking.

One-way hires are available between selected locations. Availability and any applicable one-way fees depend on the specific pickup and drop-off combination. Please specify your requirements in your booking enquiry and we'll confirm what's possible.

One-way hires between WA and SA locations may attract a relocation fee. Contact us to confirm.

We accept all major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard and American Express. A credit card is required for the security deposit hold at pickup.

Corporate account holders may be invoiced directly in accordance with their account payment terms. Contact our reservations team to confirm payment options for your booking.

Vehicles & Fleet

Our fleet is built for the conditions of the Pilbara, Nullarbor and remote South Australia. We offer a range of vehicles across three categories:

  • 4WD & Utes — Toyota HiLux Dual Cab, LandCruiser Prado 250, LandCruiser 79 Series Single Cab and Dual Cab
  • Passenger — Toyota Corolla (small car), Toyota Camry Hybrid (medium car), Ford Everest (SUV)
  • Commercial — Toyota HiAce Commuter Bus, Hino 4x4 Dual Cab Truck

View the full fleet on our Fleet page.

Our 4WD fleet — the HiLux, Prado and LandCruiser 79 Series — is specifically chosen for remote and unsealed road conditions common to the Pilbara and outback South Australia. These vehicles are regularly used on mine site access roads, station tracks and remote community routes.

Passenger vehicles (Corolla, Camry, Everest) are intended for sealed road use only. Please advise us at the time of booking if your hire involves significant unsealed road travel so we can recommend the right vehicle.

Taking a passenger vehicle off sealed roads may void your insurance cover. Always check your hire agreement before departing.

Yes. All vehicles in our fleet are equipped with a spare tyre. Our 4WD vehicles carry a full-size spare suitable for remote and unsealed road use.

A basic tool kit for tyre changes is also included. If you are planning extended remote travel, we recommend confirming spare tyre specifications with our team at the time of booking.

Fuel type varies by vehicle:

  • HiLux Dual Cab — diesel
  • LandCruiser Prado 250 — diesel
  • LandCruiser 79 Series — diesel
  • Corolla — hybrid (petrol/electric)
  • Camry — hybrid (petrol/electric)
  • Ford Everest — diesel
  • HiAce Commuter — diesel
  • Hino Truck — diesel

Vehicles are provided with a full tank and must be returned full. Fuel charges apply if returned below the agreed level.

All hire vehicles are covered by standard insurance included in the hire rate. A standard excess applies in the event of damage or theft. Excess reduction options are available for purchase at the time of booking or pickup, reducing your financial liability in the event of a claim.

Full insurance terms, exclusions and excess amounts will be detailed in your hire agreement. Please read these carefully before accepting the vehicle.

Insurance cover may be void for incidents occurring on unsealed roads in non-4WD vehicles, or as a result of driver negligence. Review your agreement carefully.

Child seat availability varies by location. Please request a child seat at the time of booking to ensure availability. Child seats must comply with Australian standards and it is the hirer's responsibility to ensure correct installation and use.

For large-scale fleet requirements at mine sites, we recommend setting up a corporate account to streamline bookings and billing. Enquire about a corporate account here.

Our team has deep local knowledge of the routes between our locations. We can advise on current road conditions, unsealed road stretches, fuel availability and any seasonal access considerations at the time of booking.

For up-to-date road condition reports in Western Australia, check Main Roads WA. For South Australia, check DPTI SA.

We monitor flight arrivals at our airport locations and will do our best to accommodate flight delays. If your flight is significantly delayed, please call us on 1300 106 666 as soon as possible so we can hold your vehicle and adjust your pickup time accordingly.

First Nations Ownership

Jina Rent a Car is the trading name of Cedrent Enterprises Pty Ltd. Cedrent is majority owned by two First Nations groups: the Yindjibarndi Nation — Traditional Custodians of the Pilbara in Western Australia — and the Far West Coast peoples of South Australia, represented through the Far West Coast Aboriginal Corporation.

This is not a token arrangement. The Yindjibarndi Nation and the Far West Coast peoples are the majority owners of the business. When you hire with Jina, your spend goes directly to the communities whose country you are operating on.

Jina means foot in the Yindjibarndi language — one of the Ngayarta languages of the Pilbara. In the Far West Coast language groups, the same word is spelled Djina. In both cases it carries the image of a footprint left on country: a mark of presence, of belonging, of ongoing connection to the land.

The fact that the same word exists in both ownership groups' languages was central to the choice of name. Jina / Djina bridges two Nations, two stretches of country, and one shared purpose.

Cedrent Enterprises Pty Ltd is currently in the process of obtaining Supply Nation certification. Supply Nation certification is the national standard for verifying that a business is at least 51% Indigenous owned, controlled and managed.

We will update this page and our corporate documentation when certification is confirmed. In the meantime, we can provide documentation of our First Nations majority ownership directly on request.

As a majority First Nations owned business, the revenue generated by Jina Rent a Car flows back to its First Nations owners — the Yindjibarndi Nation and the Far West Coast peoples. This is direct economic participation in the industries operating on their country.

Jina is not a franchise or a subsidiary of a foreign-owned car hire company. It is an independent, Australian-owned and First Nations majority-owned business. Every booking contributes to the economic sovereignty of the communities that own it.

We have dedicated pages on our website for each ownership group:

You can also visit the owners' own websites directly: yindjibarndi.com.au and farwestcoastaboriginalcorp.org.au.
